It is important to remember that vacuum tube circuits generally use lethally high voltages. In fact, parts of the 5F6-A consistently produce more than 400 volts! Capacitors in the circuit store these lethal voltages long after the amplifier has been turned off and unplugged. Please do not work on one of these circuits unless you are properly trained.

Mathes Amplification
“Guitar Amplifier based on the legendary Fender Tweed Bassman 59 Model 5F6-A with switchable spring reverb based on the Fender Twin Reverb. The Wildcat Bassman Plus includes input and output jacks for additional effects. In its basic design the Wildcat Bassman Plus exactly duplicates the original Bassman 5F6-A. It drives a special speaker cabinet built to exactly reproduce the original Bassman 5F6-A loudspeakers and cabinet mechanical construction.”
Here is the latest version of the Wildcat:
The new version is being used in Berlin by the group "Ike and the Capers" and in the recording studio of "Lightning Recorders." Conspicuously absent are the modern printed circuit boards - the new Wildcat is completely hand wired.

David Donald's Hoffman board driving a Peavey Transfex 212 open-back cabinet. Certain to be the only one of its kind in Koh Samui, Thailand. Here is Barry Wedgle on guitar, Norman King on tenor sax, Mark Tweedale on drums, and David Donald on bass in David's recording studio in Koh Samui:
